Knitty Gritty: Neck Tie
So how about something any Big-Daddy won’t be able to resist wearing? I’ve designed a funky yet utterly wearable necktie that will appeal to his inner Daddy-Cool! Why not make one for each of the men in your family?
Or wear your tie in the same way one stylish boss-lady-knitter I know does – it looks great on a high powered
businesswoman with a pencil skirt, crisp white shirt and a pair of sexy–librarian spectacles!
The tie is knitted in a fine 4-ply yarn that will not be too bulky for a tie, but will still hold its shape well. Four-ply yarn is available in a variety of materials and colours, but I’ve been using self-striping sock yarn; it changes colour as if by magic and saves you having to weave in any ends (and it’s pretty exciting not knowing what colour will come next!)
You will notice that the tie is knitted entirely in garter stitch so that it lies perfectly flat and makes a good tidy knot.
