Krista Cowl
When you have a dear friend whose name sounds so much like a knitted item, there’s really only one thing you can do… Krista Cowl is knit in two phases: first the main part of the cowl is knit from the bottom up, then the buttonhole panel is picked up from the side of the first piece and knit perpendicular to it. The cables are simple, making this a good first cable project.
UPDATE - Errata 12/29/20
A knitter working with the self-published version of this pattern has alerted me to a couple of things that slipped through the cracks in the transition from the magazine version to self-published version of this pattern. Apologies for any confusion this has caused.

The key for the chart symbols should specify that the symbol for knit on the RS should say to purl on the Wrong Side, and likewise the symbol for purl on the RS should say to knit on the WS.
-
The number of times to repeat the cable and eyelet chart for the first panel of the cowl has been omitted. It should say to repeat 6 times.

Not a mistake but a subject of a future update: The graph program I was using at the time this pattern was published did not have the ability to increase the size of the row numbers, which has made for challenging reading. The knitting of the charted section starts on the lower left, working on the WS of the fabric after the set-up row. There are 8 rows, and as is common, the number appears at the beginning of the row as it will be knit (i.e on the left for WS, on the right for RS. I will be making a new chart in an improved charting software in the not too distant future, and updates will go out automatically through Ravelry. If one is printing this graph from the PDF, the numbers can be made larger by printing that page in landscape mode and slightly larger.
