I’ve been leaning hard into video games since quarantine started. This is the best way I’ve found to keep myself entertained and happy during such a hard time.

Stardew Valley is one of my all-time favourite games! A way to homestead while stuck in the city. And Krobus is 100% my favourite character. His cute pixel-iness and his adorable quirky things he says are just delightful.

Krobus (the shawl) is a lovely big square shawl worked in the round! It feels like it would be something that Krobus (the shadow human) would wear! I knew I really wanted a big lovely soft (and not to hot) square pattern to wear with my jean jackets. I wanted it to be able to fold and layer up without overheating me and I wanted it to match my almost entirely black wardrobe. BAM It turned out perfectly!

It’s a lot of knitting but it was worth it for how versatile square shawls are! And let’s be honest - many of us have a lot of time on our hands right now.

Yarn:

approximately 1760 yards (1609 metres) of sport weight cotton yarn.

Needles:

4mm (US 6)* knitting needles in whichever way you prefer to knit a small circumference (magic loop, double pointed knitting needles)

4mm (US 6)* circular needles in at least a 32” (80cm) cord.

Optional: another set of 4mm (US 6)* circular needles in a longer length of cord.

Or whatever size needles it takes you to get gauge.

Notions:

7 regular stitch markers.
1 fancy or different stitch marker to mark BOR.
Whichever tools you prefer to weave in
ends, and whichever tools you prefer to
block your shawls.

Gauge:

14 stitches and 23 rows = 4” (10cm) square knit flat in pattern and blocked.

Size:

80.5” (204cm) measured diagonally along the spine (well, one of the spines).

52” (132cm) measured along the width of the shawl.
