There are those mornings when you wake up and suddenly whole gray world is one white fluffy wonderland. This magical sight has inspired Kupena — that is Latvian for snow bank — a crescent shaped lace shawl that arranges lots and lots of snowflakes in airy lace.
This is the shawl with many possibilities to make it as unique as possible – you can adjust the size of the shawl, you can knit it in any weight from the finest lace and to bulkiest you dare to knit. I prefer solid color but it can work wonders with a tonal yarn. Don’t be afraid to experiment!
It is knitted top down. The stitch patterns and construction are fairly simple and after a couple of repeats you’ll know them by heart. You can knit it even if you are fairly new to lace knitting, because it looks way more complicated than it is.
