The Kylm (Estonian for Cold) fingerless mitts is designed to accompany the Meelespea cowl or the Jasper cowl (last photo on the left). The Jasper cowl pattern was published in the British Fibre Art magazine issue 23. It is a bandana type cowl with mosaic pattern, worked flat and sewn to form a cowl.
The fingerless mitts are knitted in rounds, in mosaic knitting. Mosaic is easy to knit, one colour at a time and creates an interesting, slightly texture fabric. The cuff is worked in faux corrugated rib, using just one of the yarns at a time. If you are experienced at stranded knitting, you can work corrugated rib, as usual, handling both yarns at the same time. The width and length can be easily adjusted, working more or fewer repeats/motifs. The pattern uses metric and imperial systems. The mosaic pattern is fully charted, including the gusset.
The yarns used for the sample:
• MC Drops Nord, #1 Off White
• CC Drops Nord, #8 Fog
• AC Drops Fabel, #111 Mustard
