Knitting this rug is similar to one of those spiritual walks - the frequent changes in yarn and color provide an opportunity to pause and reflect on what you’ve done and to consider your next step - all as you maintain a continuous path.”

Finished Size: About 33” (84 cm) diameter.

Needles:

• Size 11 (8 mm).
• Change needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Yarn: Worsted-weight (CYCA Medium #4) yarn.

Notions: Tapestry needle; sewing needle; 20 yd (18.5 m) of 0.5” (1.3-cm) Wright’s Piping filler cord (available at fabric stores); size .005 nylon transparent thread.

Gauge:

• About 18 t0 20 sts = 4” (10 cm) in slip titch pattern.
• Exact gauge is not critical, but fabric should be dense enough to completely cover cotton cording.

Notes:

• Coil the knitting as it progresses to get an idea of how the colors will work together when the rug is assembled, and make any desired adjustments to the combinations.
• Leave long enough tails for the stripes so you can sew the seam of the tube with yarn tails that match the color of each section.
