The Lace Beach Bag looks charmingly frivolous and acts seriously functional. You can fit a beach towel, shorts, shirt and your weekend reading into this bag with ease -- and still find your cell phone and keys safely tucked into the interior pouch.

The pouch has a flap, which is intended to be tucked into the pouch if needed to keep things inside. The pouch is worked on straight needles using double knitting, which creates two layers of fabric at the same time, then the sides are separated, one side is bound off, and the flap is knit. If you prefer a button to tucking the pouch in, just add a button loop to the tip of the flap and sew on a button!

This bag is designed for carrying bulky, lightweight items. Because the lace pattern is very stretchy, it might not be the best choice for carrying very heavy items.
