A good substitute is Rowan Cashsoft Aran 2 strands held together with size US 13 / 9mm needles, if you rather would knit with one strand, you’ll need a suber bulky weight yarn like Rowan Big Wool on size US 13 / 9mm needles.

Based on chestsize:
S (32-34 inch / 81-86 cm)
M (36-38 inch / 91-96 cm)
L (40-42 inch / 101-106 cm)
XL (44-46 inch / 111-116 cm)
GAUGE
9.5 sts / 13 rows = 4” / 10 cm in stockinette stitch with 2 strands of yarn
9.5 sts / 13 rows = 4” / 10 cm in lace pattern with 2 strands of yarn
USED ABBREVIATIONS
co: cast on
k: knit
p: purl
yo: yarn over
k2tog: knit 2 together
skp: slip stitch, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over
sk2p: slip 1, knit 2 together, pass slip stitch over the knit 2 together
RS: right side
WS: wrong side
M1: make 1 stitch
Chain stitch (crochet): wrap the yarn from back to front around the shaft of the hook. Use the hook to draw the yarn through the loop on the hook – one chain stitch is now made.
You’ll need
Yarn: 14 14, 16, 18 balls of worsted/aran weight yarn (approximately 1310 1310, 1530, 1700 yards /1200 1200, 1400, 1550 meters). Use 2 strands held together.
The model is shown in Canada from Lammy Yarns 60 % acrylic, 40 % wool; 93 yards/85 meters per 50 g ball; color: jeansblue (color code 352).
Needles: 1 set US 11 / 8 mm straight needles or other size to obtain gauge.
Crochet hook: US L-11 / 8 mm.
1 tapestry needle.
