The “bones” of this design are an adaptation of the “Weaver’s Wool Mini Shawl” by Peggy Pignato (c) 2003, which could be found originally on www.knitlist.com, and can now also be found here on Ravelry. Her pattern is well-constructed and a good clean knit.
For more of a “scarf” purpose: (1) I didn’t want so many holes in each radiating pie section - because they tend to distort with larger needles, (2) I wanted a little more “razzle dazzle” in the style, (3) I wanted the shape narrower and longer, (4) I wanted to use linens and crisper yarns, (5) I wanted a really draping scarf, and (6) I wanted to be able to accomplish all of the above in much less than the 350 yards called for in the original pattern.
