Looking For Unique Crochet Cushion Pillow Cover Pattern? Make This Lace Mandala Pillow. It Is Inspired By The Open-Work Lace Designs Of Turkish Oya.

This Lace Mandala pillow gives the illusion of a blooming mandala flower in the resulting negative space creating a cool decorative throw pillow.

I started designing this pillow inspired by the classic Oya lace. The Mandala design happened on its own accord. Seriously, it was not my doing. :P

This pattern is quite versatile. Just like a Mandala, the color change options are only limited by your imagination.

The stitch pattern is easy and simple all throughout. The decorative edging and change of colors are the only exceptions because of which it falls under the intermediate pattern category.

The crocheted work involved is less than it appears to be. The negative spaces does half of your work for you. ;)

Skill Level: Intermediate

Suggested Yarn:
For the 18 inch pillow, you can use sport weight yarn. You will need approximately 250 g/ 9 oz of sports weight 5 ply (12 WPI) yarn.

For the 24 inch pillow, you will need approximately 400 g/ 14 oz of light worsted weight yarn.

I made an 18 inch pillow and used:
Katia Cotton Stretch. Colors (#19 Green, #25 Red, #20 Blue, #17 Yellow, #14 Purple, #16 Orange, #15 Pink) 1 ball/skein each.

Crochet Hooks:
For 18 inch pillow made using sport weight yarn, you will need:
3mm hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

For 24 inch pillow made using light worsted weight yarn, you will need:
4mm hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

Notions: Stitch Markers, Sewing Needle, Scissors
Matching yarn to sew buttons. 5mm decorative button (Quantity - 2), Sewing Machine to sew the pillow form or you may hand sew.

For the pillow insert:
Half yard upholstery weight fabric in your choice of color, Matching sewing thread, Fiberfill – about 500g-700g(18 oz – 25 oz)
