This hat is knit from the top, designed for 2 circular or 3 double-pointed needles, and starts with 6 stitches on US 7. Switch to a 16” circular after the final increase round. Since the ribbing is last, use a 16” circular US 5 (or sizes to get gauge).

I submitted the pattern fully edited and with notes when I sold the pattern to the publisher. It is a beautiful book with many wonderful projects and I am happy to have my hat included, but I hope they consider a revised edition with proofing by the original designers. I believe they were working on a tight deadline, and fast editing is always hazardous!

Needle size corrections: Since this pattern is knit from the top down, the cast on and crown are worked on US 7 needles. I originally wrote this hat starting on two circulars (or 3 double-pointed needles), switching to one 16-inch circular after the final increase row. Then, switch to a US 5 16-inch circular for the ribbing.
