The historic Ladd’s Addition neighborhood, known for its diagonal street pattern, is Portland’s oldest planned residential development. Ladd designed the plat based on a diagonal street system surrounding a central park. Also included were four diamond-shaped rose gardens located on the points of a compass.

These colorful placemats use motifs to represent the Ladd’s Addition Rose Gardens. The motifs are crocheted and then joined with a continuous joining round and then the simple border is worked around all.

Stop and smell the roses, then settle down with these colorful placemats for a lovely picnic!
