Lakeus sock is the winning design for a sock design contest in Rantalakeus area in Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland.

Lakeus socks were inspired by the vast fields characteristic to the Rantalakeus area.

Lakeus is a toe-up sock with gusset and a short-row heel. The pattern is written for magic-loop method. Stitch pattern is charted.

SIZES:
Small (Large).
Finished measurements: Foot circumference 18cm (19cm).
Foot length can be adjusted.

MATERIALS:
Yarn: 1 skein of Väinämöinen Knitlob’s Lair (75% Superwash merino, 25% nylon; 402m - 100g).
Approx. 200 (300)m of fingering weight yarn.

The sample was knit in colourway Keltamulta.

Needles: 2,5 mm 80 cm circular needles.
Adjust needle size to obtain the correct gauge.The pattern is written for magic loop method, but can be adjusted for dpn’s.
Other: Stitch markers, tapestry needle.

GAUGE:
34 stitches and 48 rows = 10cm in stockinette stitch.
