Lala Lullaby
A cute textured blanket inspired by my love of Kiki & Lala, The Little Twin Stars.
Written pattern in English, with colour photos for each block and applique.
The 5 different blocks included are plain, striped, spotty and plaid as well as two character face blocks.
There are 14 different appliqués, which are made separately and sewn onto the squares. All the imagery is inspired by the cute Sanrio world of Kiki & Lala and include; star, moon, cloud, rainbow, sweet, cupcake, strawberry, cotton candy, jar of stars, bluebird, flower, bow and miniature hearts.
You could pick and choose which appliqués and which patterns to make for your own unique blanket.
The squares could also be used for a different project such as a bag or cardigan.
I used 1 x 100g ball of each of these 5 colours:
Stylecraft Special DK - Fondant (Pink)
Stylecraft Special DK - Wisteria (Purple)
Stylecraft Special DK - Sherbert (Blue)
Stylecraft Special DK - Lemon (Yellow)
Hayfield Bonus DK - Mint (Green) (Stylecraft Special DK -substitute: Spring green)
I also I used 3 x 100g balls of background colour; Stylecraft Special DK - White
I used a small amount of Stylecraft Special DK - Toy (for the two face blocks)
and a tiny amount of dark grey (for the eyes).
I used a 3.5mm hook throughout, with each square measuring 14cm (5.5”) wide.
I made 30 squares in total.
Including the border my finished blanket measures 80cm x 95cm (31.5” x 37”).
If you prefer to use a 4mm hook for DK please do so.
You could also make extra squares for a larger sized blanket, or mix and match them as you wish. Feel free to choose which ones to make and how many.
