Original lace pattern by Miss Lambert.

Pattern Description from Victorian Lace Today: “While perusing Weldon’s Practical Knitter, Vol. 1, 1886, I discovered a leaf and trellis pattern described thus: ‘This is a very favourite old pattern for windows curtains, cotton antimacassars, bread tray cloths and other articles. It is here rearranged and improved, and the veining of the leaves is carries symmetrically upwards.’ Intrigues, I tried it out, and found it to be Miss Lambert’s leaf and trellis extended from a 20 to a 43-stitch repeat with added decreases and yarn-overs to give definition. How exciting to see the evolution of such a lovely pattern!”
