Last Leaf
If you’ve read Melanie Falick’s beautiful book Knitting in America, you’ll recognize this design, which is based on my sweater design in that book. I actually had 4 triangles and a few leaves left over from that sweater, and they became the basis for this design. I sewed the triangles together to make the counterpane square and with a circular needle picked up around the edge of the square and worked the rib band. When blocking I folded the corners to the band and added a few leaves. A unique beret was born from the leftovers, but you’ll have to start from scratch with my instructions.
