The Late Night Shimmy Shake is a beaded, sleeveless tunic that features an empire waist, which is universally flattering on all body types. Wear it with leggings or skinny jeans or over another dress, and the lacy lower half will shimmer with light and movement creating a flirty look. The design includes beaded openwork, a linen stitch empire waist, a beaded neckline, and an upper bodice knitted in Stockinette stitch with two different yarns held together. You can change the overall effect of the bodice by varying your selection of yarns. Choose a beaded or sequined art yarn for additional shine and impact. Knitted flat in two halves, the front and back are seamed together at the shoulders and sides before stitches are picked up at both the neckline and armholes to create a decorative edge.

Because the Berroco Mixer yarn has been discontinued, you’ll likely need to find a substitution. I really like the YarnSub website (www.yarnsub.com) for finding a variety of similar yarns that can be substituted when another is no longer available. The key characteristics you want to look for when substituting for the Berroco Mixer include a DK weight yarn with a tape texture that has at least some metallic accents. The Mixer yarn also has some slight color shifts, and the strand varies in thickness. A beaded or sequined art yarn could also be a fun substitution, although it will slightly change the appearance of the bodice.
