GAUGE
22 sts x 33 rnds = 4” / 10 cm in Cable and Twist patt
Always use the needle size that results in the correct gauge. Gently wash and block your swatch before measuring.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES
This cowl is worked from the top down. It begins with a garter tab cast on and is worked flat, back and forth in rows as though you were knitting a triangular shawl. Once the correct width is achieved, stitches are joined and worked seamlessly in the round for the rest of the cowl. The fabric is decorated with cables and twisted stitches. During finishing, applied crochet stitches are worked into the purl “gutters” of the cables to create a vivid pop of color.

The applied crochet lines can be worked in a single color as shown, or they can be worked in any colors you desire. Great fun could be had making each line a color of its own. Choose a dk to worsted yarn as the contrast color(s). For each “line”, make sure that the strand of yarn is approximately 3 times the length of the specific cable with purl “gutters” you are working. A single strand can be carried along each vertical cable “gutter”.
