INTRO

This bag is the classic and ancient crochet mesh bag for shopping, the one that stretches thanks to its chain stitch pattern and allows you to carry kilos in it without any problem if you make it with a strong material. A while ago, I published the Paca Bag, also a mesh shopping bag, and I named it Paca because that’s my grandmother’s name, the one who taught me how to crochet. This one is called Laura because she is her neighbor in the village and best friend. They are inseparable, and there couldn’t be a Paca without a Laura.

MEASUREMENTS

If you follow the instructions and achieve the same gauge as indicated, the bag, before filling it, measures approximately 35 cm (13.8 inches) high x 35 cm (13.8 inches) wide, not including the handles. The bag will take the shape of whatever you put inside.

MATERIALS

Yarn: For the bag shown in the photos, I used: 3 skeins of My Knitted Closet - The Ultra Soft Cotton: 100% cotton. | 50 g, 180 meters 197 yards in Navy Blue.

You will need 420 meters (460 yards) of fingering weight yarn. Since this is a bag, I recommend using cotton, linen, or a blend of both.

Hooks: 3.50mm crochet hook. Use the size needed to obtain the correct gauge.

Extras: Tapestry needle for sewing and weaving in ends. Measuring tape or ruler. Stitch marker for beginning of round. Scissors.

GAUGE

Worked in the mesh stitch pattern, 10x10 cm 4” equals 28 stitches (7 mesh spaces) and 9 rounds.

Esta bolsa es la clásica y antiquísima bolsa de red de ganchillo para ir a la compra, esa que se estira gracias a su trama de cadenetas y que te permite cargar kilos en ella sin problema si la realizas con un material resistente.

Hace ya tiempo, publiqué la bolsa Paca, también una bolsa de red para ir a la compra, y la llamé Paca porque así se llama mi abuela, quien me enseñó a hacer ganchillo.

Esta se llama Laura porque es su vecina del pueblo y mejor amiga, son uña y carne, y no podía haber una Paca sin una Laura.

MEDIDAS

Si sigues las instrucciones y tienes la misma muestra que la indicada, la bolsa, antes de llenarla, mide 35 cm de alto x 35 cm de ancho aproximadamente, sin contar las asas, pero coge la forma de lo que metas en su interior.

MATERIALES

Hilo:
Para la bolsa que se ve en las fotos, he usado:
3 ovillos de My Knitted Closet - The Ultra Soft Cotton: 100% algodón. | 50 gr, 180 metros 197 yardas en color Navy blue.

Necesitarás 420 metros de un hilo de grosor fingering.
Como es una bolsa, te recomiendo usar hilo de algodón, de lino o una mezcla de ambos.

Agujas:
Aguja de ganchillo/crochet de 3.50mm
Usa el tamaño necesario para obtener la muestra.

MUESTRA

Trabajado en el punto de red del esquema, 10x10 cm 4” son 28 puntos (7 agujeritos de la red) y 9 vueltas.

TÉCNICAS UTILIZADAS

Cadeneta, punto bajo, punto alto, punto enano.
