This is a written crochet pattern for “Laura the Ladybird”- an amigurumi 7-spotted ladybird (or ladybug).

The pattern is available in both US and UK terms. The PDF file is 10 pages long with detailed instructions and lots of photos. In addition to Ravelry, this pattern is also available on my Etsy store to purchase.

This pattern is suitable for crocheters that are already familiar with amigurumi and basic crochet stitches/techniques (e.g. ch, sc, inc, dec, working in BLO and FLO, working in the round, colour changing, sewing pieces together etc.). Please note a decent amount of pieces need to be sewn together to make the ladybird, however some ways/alternative methods of reducing the required sewing are noted in the pattern. All pieces are worked in continuous rounds, except the legs which are worked in rows.

Materials & Tools Required:
• Yarn in colours red and black. Both in (roughly) the same yarn weight category as each other.
• A crochet hook that matches your yarn weight.
• Safety eyes x2 (optional- you can embroider eyes if you prefer)
• Small amount of white thread/yarn to embroider around the safety eyes (optional).
• Scissors
• Tapestry/finishing needle
• Toy stuffing
• Stitch marker (recommended)
• Pins to help with assembly/sewing (recommended)

Using a 3mm hook and DK weight yarn my finished ladybird measured approximately 6.5cm long, 5.5cm wide and 2.5cm tall.
