Lavandula
Where I live, the season for wearing a wool shawl is a lot longer than the season of lavenders in bloom. This shawl pattern is inspired by traditional Estonian and Icelandic lace knitting.
Lavandula is a triangular lace shawl with patterning on the right side rows only, wrong side rows are purled. The pattern is charted. Requires approximately 600 meters/656 yards of lace weight yarn. Fingering weight yarn can also be used and will give a slightly larger shawl. Gauge is not crucial, use needles to obtain a desired lace effect.
Blue-purple sample shawl is knitted in BC Garn Semilla extra fino 100% wool; 300 m/328 yd per 50g skein it used approximately 100 grams knitted on 3.5 mm (US 4) needles. Blocked size is 150 x 70 cm (59 x 28 inches).
Red-purple sample shawl is knitted in Grignasco Merinosilk 75% merino, 25% silk; 1533yd/1402m per 100g skein it used 40 grams knitted on 2.5 mm (US 1½) circular needles. Blocked size is 130 x 65 cm (51 x 26 inches).
Many thanks to my wonderful testknitters, without you this would not have been possible.
