Leafing Diamonds
The wonders of life come in many forms. Several are variations of carbon, giving us a wide span of beauties from branches to diamonds. Like carbon, knitting has near endless possibilities, offering such a diversity. Here, we explore the beauty of lace branches and diamonds.
Leafing Diamonds is a triangular shawl knitted from the bottom tip and upwards. The diamond center is embraced by two decorative branches, all knitted in one piece. The shawl can be enlarged by additional repeats. The pattern is charted, wrong side rows are all purls.
Blue shawl used 1 skein Malabrigo Sock in Persia 100% Merino, 440 yd/402 m per 100g on 4 mm (US 6) needles. Blocked size is 117 x 61 cm (46 x 24 inches). Gauge 18 stitches = 10 cm in stockinette.
White shawl used 1 skein Jaggerspun Zephyr Wool-Silk 2/18 in White 50% merino, 50% silk; 630yd/ 576 m per 57g on 3.5mm (US 4) needles. Blocked size: 125 x 71 cm (49 x 28 inches). Gauge: 19 stitches = 10 cm in stockinette.
