A single ball of the supersoft Mérinos yarn from La Filature du Valgaudemar is enough to knit this hat inspired by a late 1970’s hat I have seen on an Italian magazine. That one had been knitted flat and seamed, this one is knitted top down in the round. Rapid yarnover increases and the first 8-row pattern create a crinkled leafy effect that adds to the character of this otherwise pretty straightforward beanie.

As the hat does not use up all of the yarn, you may easily turn this beanie in a slouchier hat by working two extra stitch pattern repetitions and or a few extra stockinette rows before starting the border.

Dato che il cappello non consuma completamente il gomitolo, potete trasformare questo berretto a calottina in uno slouchy lavorando due motivi extra nel berretto o aggiungendo alcuni giri a maglia rasata prima del bordo.
