Sometimes a yarn just calls to me begging to be used. That was the case with with beautiful Natural Organic Ewe from Done Roving Yarns. So despite the tempeatures in the 90’s and heat indices topping 100 I answered the call.

After much experimentation with different shawl ideas, I decided to start fresh and create an infinity scarf. I based final size on my 5’2” height but realize that not everyone is blessed with short stature so decided to work toward creating a design that could easily be adapted to any length and width by even the beginning knitter.

This design is easily customized to accommodate individual taste:

• Cast on any even number of stitches to give desired circumference.

• Work top and bottom borders to desired width ending with Rnd 1

• Work center pattern as many repeats as desired to create preferred total width.

Yardage given on the pattern is based on my usage. Any of these changes will affect your yarn usage so it would be helpful to weigh your yarn at each stage to determine amount required for borders and amount left over for center repeating pattern.

To accommodate differences in gauge, Horizontal Herringbone edge stitch is worked on needles 3 sizes larger than needle used for the body of this scarf rather than decrease/increase stitches.

If you prefer to work initial rows flat instead of circular (to aid in joining), add 2 edge stitches for seaming and decrease those stitches when joining. Also change Row 2 of Horizontal Herringbone to a PT stitch: P2tog, leave sts on needle, p first stitch again then allow stitches to drop from left hand needle.

Because of its simplicity, I decided to release it immediately as a free pattern. It has been through multiple proofreaders; however, it has not been test knit. If you find any errors PLEASE contact me with corrections.
