Legacy Pullover
Legacy Pullover was a special project for me, as the yarn used was grown by a flock of sheep which once grazed a green space in a city where my family used to live. Our young children and I used to visit these Finn sheep often in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada, and we were allowed to pet and feed them. The yarn I used for my sample was from the fleece shorn in 2019, the year we moved away from that city, and the last year that group of sheep grazed the green space. My family has since gained our own little flock of Shetland sheep, and Fort Saskatchewan has replaced that exact flock with a different one, but this project and design will always hold a dear place in my heart. I named the pullover Legacy, after the park that the sheep grazed, and for the heirloom nature of the yarn and garment.

CONSTRUCTION This circular yoke pullover uses one main colour of fingering weight yarn along with two contrast colours, worked top-down and seamlessly in the round. This sweater fits loose at the neck, snug at the bust and waist, loose at the armholes and sleeves, and snug at the cuffs. The neckline is cast on and worked in rolled edging and then ribbing, short rows are added, and the yoke is increased through wedges using the colourwork chart. Additional short rows are worked before the garment is separated into body and sleeves. The sleeves and body are worked in the round, and finished with a colourwork forearm prior to the cuff.
