Leonid Shawl
This pattern is available via LoveCrafts!
The winter Leonid meteor shower is best experienced in the early morning hours, when they streak in from the east over a lightening sky. Worked in two colors of the wonderfully sparkly Platinum by Baah Yarns, this shawl evokes the starry sky striped with the streaks of dawn and tails of shooting stars, and could be just the thing to wrap around your shoulders for a bit of meteoric drama of your own this winter.
The shawl is worked with the same general principles as a traditional top-down triangle, but instead of two wedges with increases every other row, it has four wedges with increases every fourth row. This simple change creates a much more crescent shape that is flattering on the body but still easy to work. For the border, the increases that had been part of the wedges switch to the other side of their markers, making little triangles at the very ends of the spines—much like meteors at the ends of their descent to earth.
