Les Galets de l’Ill mean “Ill’s pebbles”, where Ill is the river that give its name to Alsace, the French Region where I live. At its source, less then 20 minutes away from my home, water mix with little rounded pebbles.
The hat pictured is size Large, knit with Gomitoli’s Cashmere 4 ply
Skills Needed
Casting-on, knitting, purling, basic increases and decreases, working in the round
Gauge
18 sts and 30 rows over 10cm / 4” in stockinette stitch in the round, on larger needles, wet blocked.
Gauge is crucial for this project, determining not only yarn usage, but also size
Sizes
Child (Adult small, Adult Large)
To fit head circumferences:
Child (4-12 years old): 55 cm / 21.75”, finished hat 42 cm / 16.5“ width, length 19 cm / 7.5“
Adult small: 56 cm / 22”, finished hat 45 cm / 17.75“ width, length 19 cm / 7.5“
Adult Large: 57-58 cm / 23”, finished hat 48cm / 19“ width, length 20cm / 8“
Yarn
45 g 165 m /180 yd of any sport yarn that will give the correct gauge
Sample is knit in Gomitoli’s in the Mood for Knitting Cashmere Lana 4ply, 70% wool, 30% Goat Cashmere, colourway light grey
Needles
3.5 mm (US size 4) AND 4 mm (US size 6), 100 cm 40” circular needles, or size to obtain correct gauge
Tapestry needle to weave in ends
