Lesley's Carry Cape
Whether it is used for special occasions or everyday, a carrying cape is a an easy way of keeping a baby warm! The bonnet (and bootees) can be used separately.
If you want the cape to be used every day and washed frequently, use a superwash wool - sock yarns are ideal!
Note that the pattern will work with other fingering yarns from ColourMart, and also those from other companies but you must check your tension.
Materials
200 (300) g ColourMart cashmere fingering for the set
3.5mm and 4mm (US 4 and 6) needles for the 1st size, 4mm and 4.5mm (US 6 and 7) for the 2nd size
ribbon about 1½ yard/m, of about 1” wide for the cape
ribbon about 1 yard/m, of about ¾ ins wide for the bonnet; about 1 yard/m of about ¼ ins wide for the bootees
Sizes
to fit birth to 6 months (6 to 9 months)
Tension
About 20 sts and 34 rows to 10cm/4in over the Net Cluster pattern on 4 mm needles and 16 sts and 27 rows on 4.5 mm needles after washing and blocking. Tension is not critical to the design but will affect the yardage used.
