Lest We Forget
This pattern is based off of art by Ian Coate (iancoate.com) and was converted to a crochet pattern with his permission.
This pattern includes the chart (with Xs) for creating this mosaic crochet design. I also have a file with the written instructions. The size can be adjusted by altering the weight of the yarn and size of the hook. Using sport weight yarn and a G hook, the size will be approximately 60” x 80”.
The technique is mosaic crochet overlay, where the colors alternate each row. You can hide the ends with a double border. You will be working on the same side of each row, so the front of the blanket is always facing you.
I recommend using variegated yarn for the sky in each section.
You will need multiple colors with approximate amounts as follows:
White - 200 yards
Black - 5200 yards
Top sky color - 2000 yards
Middle sky color - 2200 yards
Bottom sky color - 2400 yards
