Let's Twist (the Barbara Walker way)
This all started when TheaMidnight posted a pic of a blanket she’s finishing as part of the September Clean Sweep in the stitchnerds group. I absolutely loved the stitch.
So I started searching my Barbara Walker Treasuries and found it - Wickerwork - and realised that the reason I had never noticed it before was because it’s in the Twist-Stitch section - which I normally just skip because even just the idea of twisting lots of stitches makes my hands hurt.
Then I vaguely remembered skimming over something about working the stitches in a different way - so I got out my needles and had a go - it’s brilliant - very quick and easy on the hands.
Plus, the stitch pattern is a 12-row repeat and you only twist on 4/12.
Many of my yarns were too busy to really show off the stitch, but when the denim yarn arrived in the post - I knew I just had to make it.
Yarn choice: solids or semi-solid really show of the stitch - which looks intricate, but is really easy to do - the BW way !
Once the cowl is finished you can wear it either way up. The other way you get lots of Eiffel towers. ;)
Clarification: Round 9 says to repeat to the last stitch - this includes the last stitch, you may prefer to think of it as repeating up to the marker…
