The Library Wrap is a cozy, textured shawl with a soft boomerang shape that drapes beautifully. Its clean ribbed lines, both vertical and horizontal, resemble books neatly stacked on shelves.

The stitch pattern offers a fresh, modern take on crochet, with a unique texture created by variations of the extended single crochet stitch. To help you get comfortable with the stitches, it includes a swatch section with a chart and step-by-step photos - perfect for practicing before starting the shawl! You can also use the swatch instructions to create a rectangle wrap: scarf or stole.

MATERIALS

  • Yarn: Malabrigo Rios; worsted weight; 210 yd (192 m) per 100 g skein; 100% merino wool, Water Green colorway RIO083, 3 skeins in total
  • Hook: U.S. H/8 (5 mm)
  • Yarn needle to weave in ends
  • Stitch markers

GAUGE

The gauge is not crucial for this pattern.
16 sts and 12 rows = 4” (10 cm) in width and 2⅜“ (6 cm) in height, after blocking, worked in the main stitch pattern.

YARDAGE AND MEASUREMENTS

  1. Wingspan: 57½″ / 146 cm
  2. Actual width of each wing: 29½″ / 75 cm
  3. Depth: 20″ / 51 cm

The shawl is designed as a perfect three-skein project. However, the measurements listed above are only guidelines and you can make this shawl larger by working more row pattern repeats.
