Made with simple but strong stitches, this bag works up quickly and easily, making it ideal for beginners. Although this was originally designed as a library bag for my son (it’s made to hold four or five children’s books), this could also be a quick trip market bag or even your reusable fruit and veggie bag!

The handle is made with a chain space a few rows before completing the bag to keep the design easy but durable, and I’ll show you a little trick I have for a more reversible looking seam than you normally get with a single crochet join.

STITCHES & TECHNIQUES:

• Single Crochet

GAUGE:

17.5 sts and 13 rows in pattern = 4 inches (10 cm).

Finished size of sample was approximately 11.5” wide x 11” deep (29 cm x 28 cm). Keep in mind that your bag will probably stretch with use!
