Light plays on the turquoise waters; sandy stones contrast with the greens of trees. From up high, I contemplate this glorious otherworldliness. Human activity, history, and nature shaped this area: The ENCI quarry, a nature reserve, reclaimed from the limestone mining industry. This extraordinary mineral habitat, with its intricate combination of stone and water, serves as a haven for a myriad of species, fostering a unique and vibrant ecosystem.
Like the stratified layers of rock and colorful ponds, the Lienci cowl / scarf boasts an intricate tapestry of slip-stitch, lace, and texture patterns. The stitches mimic the interplay of geology, fauna, and flora, and capture the essence of time, history, and life enclosed within the quarry’s walls. Come explore, play with color, and marvel at reclaimed nature!
The name Lienci is a word play on ENCI, Limburg and limestone.
For best effect, use a round yarn with good stitch definition. Yarn weights ranging from Fingering to Worsted would be suitable. As for colorways, I would recommend a solid, or semi-solid yarn, combined with a contrasting color yarn in solid, semi-solid, gradient (single skein), or self-striping with a long color repeat.
