Ligita Shawl
I designed this shawl as a present to my doctoral student for her defence. The shawl is named after her, hence, Ligita Shawl.
The shawl is worked sideways from left corner to the tip and then to the right corner. The body is in eyelet pattern and the edge is added later. The edge is in ribbing and worked with yarn held double with larger needles.
The gauge is not critical. You can use laceweight or fingering yarn, provided that it can be blocked (wool, merino, linen etc).
When choosing yarn, please consider the following. Divide your yarn into 3 equal parts. You will use 1/3 for the section with increases (left corner > height, i.e. the widest part of the shawl) and another third for the section with decreases (height > right corner). The remaining third held double is for the edge. Alternatively, you can use a thicker yarn of the same or contrasting colour for the edge.
