Crochet level:
Intermediate/ Advanced

This pattern includes:
Written instructions in US terms, video for stitches and techniques, charts/ graphics, step pictures for some rounds and lining

Technique:
Overlay Mosaic Crochet with slanted stitches: each round is made with one color and consists of single crochet in the back loop (sc blo) and double crochet in the front loop (dc flo)

Stitches:
In addition to vertical dc, I also use slanted dc and extended dc (made one or two stitches back or forward), decreases, increases, and occasionally, front post stitches (there is a video and explanation for all stitches)

Sizes:

• Bag is 35cm/ 13 ¾’’ wide and 34.5cm/ 13 5/8’’ tall. Bottom width is 16cm/ 6 ¼’’.

Recommended materials:

Yarn (Fingering/ 4ply):

• Scheepjes Whirlette (60% Cotton x 40% Acrylic, 100g/ 455m/ 497.6yds) And/ Or Scheepjes Whirl (60% Cotton x 40% Acrylic, 215-225g/ 1000m/ 1094yds)

Total: 260 g/ 1183 m

• Yarn A (Bottom, Straps, Rows 85-120): 90 g/ 410 m (same as Yarn B or match Yarn B starting end), including 22 g for bottom, 33 g for Rows 85-120, 33 g for straps

• Yarn B (Background): 85 g/ 387 m

• Yarn C (Contrast): 85 g/ 387 m

Prototype:

Total: 260 g/ 1183 m

• Yarn A (Bottom, Straps, Rows 85-120): 90 g/ 410 m of Scheepjes Whirlette in 868/ Bilberry (matches Yarn B darker end), including 22 g for bottom, 33 g for upper edge, 33 g for straps

• Yarn B (Background): 85 g/ 387 m of Scheepjes Whirl in 755 Blueberry Bambam (started from the darker end)

• Yarn C (Contrast): 85 g/ 387 m of Scheepjes Whirlette in 860/ Ice

Other materials and Tools:

• Crochet hook 2.5-2.75 mm

• Tapestry needle

• Stitch markers

• 8mm/ 3/8’’ sew-on snaps (x2) for backpack sides

• Lining: about 42cm/ 16 ½’’ (measure bag before buying) of quilted or other stiff fabric, matching thread, sewing machine
