Lillian
Lillian is the perfect cardigan for your autumn wardrobe. With the grand cable panel on back and the modest decoration on front, this cardigan can be dressy or causal. The cropped and syncopated style makes it great for wearing over dresses. Lillian was designed with Malabrigo Silky Merino, a luxurious soft yarn with a pretty sheen. This cardigan will be your catchall covering for outings in the crisp autumn air.
Lillian is part of a three pattern series designed with Malabrigo yarn called Syncopated Cables. The patterns can be bought separately or together as an ebook.

Sizes:
Finished bust: 30.5 (33, 36, 39.25, 42.25, 45, 48, 51.25, 54.25, 57, 60)“. Size 33” modeled with 1” negative ease.
Materials:
Yarn: Malabrigo Silky Merino, 51% silk, 49% merino; 137m (150 yds) per 50g skein; color: #405 Sand, 6 (7, 7, 8, 9, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 13) skeins, 872 (967, 1050, 1154, 1282, 1350, 1475, 1604, 1714, 1820, 1950) yds.
Needles: Size 4/3.5mm 24” circular needle and set of 4 or 5 double-pointed needles.
Other: Stitch markers, stitch holders, spare circular needle or waste yarn, cable needle, tapestry needle, size 0.5” (13mm) buttons (see notes below).
Gauge: 22 sts and 28 rows = 4” in Stockinette Stitch. 60-st Back Cable Panel = 7.5” wide when blocked.
Notes: This cardigan is constructed from the top down in one piece with set-in sleeves. The shoulders are shaped by short rows. This cardigan is designed to be form fitting and cropped to work well over dresses. If you desire a looser fit, work one size bigger or leave out some of the waist shaping. If you change the waist shaping, make sure you end up with an odd number of stitches in the Stockinette section for the ribbed band.
The length of the body and sleeves is easily adjusted.
The buttonhole and button bands are worked as part of the body of the cardigan. The buttonholes are the yo’s in the buttonhole band so you may use as many buttons on as you desire. I placed the buttons every 1.75” for the body and placed two in the ribbed band.
There is a tutorial for the hemmed button band @ woodhouseknits.com
