Once upon a time I found myself traveling without
a project. But I had a bit of yarn with me (and –
thankfully – the right size needles to go with it) so
I noodled out the idea for these mitts on a sticky
note and gave it a go. Inspired by leftover stash
yarn (and the desire for a mostly mindless project),
these mitts are lovely to have on hand for that inbetween weather that sometimes gets cooler than
we expect.

The simple colorwork design reminds me of breaking
a biscuit or a cookie into pieces – and since they’re
fingerless, you can reach for a biscuit while you’re
wearing them (just in case)

Gauge
32 stitches and 38 rows in 4 inches (in stockinette
stitch), blocked. (Note: Gauge isn’t crucial – I tested
these at 28, 30, and 32 stitches in 4” and all were
fine. If you’re knitting for someone with larger hands,
I recommend the 28 st in 4” gauge.)

Yarn
Fingering weight wool, approximately 260 yards
total.

Main Color: Approximately 50 grams (200 yards) of
main color
Contrast Colors: Approximately 15 yards each of 4
contrast colors (or 60 yards of a single contrast color)
