Little Boy Blue
by Cilla Webb
This rhyme dates back as far as medieval times and is said to describe
a little boy who was a haywarden. This person would be in charge of supervising fences and enclosures. The rhyme was a cautionary tale because both the cow and the sheep could become ill from overindulging on grass and grain (described as corn in this rhyme).
