This hat shown has been knitted with Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino on US3 (3.25mm) single pointed needles. Other sport yarn can also be used with this pattern.

These hats are worked flat and seamed The cars are worked using Intarsia.

The pattern has instructions to knit hats in the following sizes:
6-8lbs
0-3 months
3-6 months
6-12 months
1-2 years
3-5 years
6-9 years

I do recommend knitting this beanie flat and seamed with intarsia pictures, but if you only work in the round you could convert this pattern for DPNs and duplicate stitch (swiss darn) the cars once you have completed the beanie. Each size would need to be 2 stitches less, (you would need to omit the first and last stitch of each row).
