These little donkeys are knitted with Shetland wool and can be made in two sizes just by changing the weight of yarn used. The bigger donkey is knitted with DK weight yarn and 3 mm needles and measures about 10 cm / 4” from nose to tail. For a smaller donkey (7.5 cm / 3”) use Shetland Spindrift yarn and 2 mm needles. The donkeys stand up and would make a good addition to a knitted nativity scene or as ornaments in their own right. The legs are shaped with pipe cleaners which means that they are not suitable as toys for very young children.
