Little Steps Shawl
The shawl is a triangle which is worked from the top down in Moss Stitch. The decreases make attractive little steps along the diagonal edge of the shawl.
The shape of the shawl makes it practical and versatile; it can either be worn around the shoulders or around the neck. The texture of the Moss Stitch looks beautiful and creates a lovely dense fabric. The pattern is nice and simple; after the set-up rows there is just a two-row repeat which is easy to get the hang of. Because you start with the largest number of stitches and then decrease down to just one stitch there is a clear focal point to work towards, meaning it’s a really enjoyable make.
There are helpful step by step photos included.
The pattern calls for an aran / medium worsted yarn - a self striping yarn is ideal. I used x3 balls of Caron Baby Cakes in shade Dreamy Peach. The original Caron Cakes are also a suitable yarn for this design - my pattern testers who this yarn for their shawl needed x2 cakes.
A bonus pattern is also included for a colour block shawl made with Double Knit weight yarn, which is a great stash busting project.
