LITTORA SHAWL

Littora has a wonderfully compact, wearable shape combined with a simple two-colour pattern and a cute scalloped edge. The body of the shawl is worked in stockinette with garter stitch ridges, creating a super wearable fabric. The outer edge is finished with small, shell-like scallops in the contrast colour. It provides a structured yet soft border and is super fun to knit. Be aware that the outer edge has a ton of stitches; but since it’s under 10 rows and you are done afterwards, it is totally doable.
The shawl looks great both in a high-contrast colour combo as well as in a more subtle, tonal palette. You could even skip the colour changes altogether and work the shawl in a single colour throughout. Construction is straightforward and suitable for intermediate knitters familiar with basic lace techniques.

Size
about 115 cm × 34 cm / 45 in × 13 in (wingspan × height)

Yarn
The confetti/yellow sample shawl is worked in Malabrigo Mechita with 697 Moon Trio Full as Main Colour and 35 Frank Ochre as Contrast Colour. The aqua/magenta sample shawl is worked in Malabrigo Mechita with 83 Water Green as Main Colour and 214 Magenta as Contrast Colour. Other yarns in the fingering weight range work fine as well, just beware that a different gauge might result in different yardage requirements and finished dimensions.

Gauge and Needles
24 sts × 35 rows = 10 × 10 cm / 4 × 4 in, worked flat in stockinette stitch, after washing, on 3.5 mm (US 4) needles. The edge has a ton of stitches, so grab the longest needle you can get hold on (at least 100 cm / 40 in long, ideally longer).
