Liviana is simple yet elegant garter stitch shawl with jewel like pops of color in the form of an embroidery embellishment and a simple smocked detail. The worsted weight yarn makes it super cozy and comfortable for chilly winter days.

The shawl is knit in garter stitch from the top down starting with a garter tab cast on. When you reach the edge section, you begin to knit the smocked detail and the embroidery set up. Yarn overs and purl bumps on RS rows will be used to indicate where to make embroidery stitches. The shawl is finished with a two stitch i-cord cast off and the embroidery is added after. The pattern includes a chart describing how to make the embroidery stitches.

The pattern includes both charted and written instructions for the edging.
