Log cabin mittens (Advent 2018)
To all of us who think the worst thing about knitting mittens is to knit the thumbs in the end: Here we bring the ulti- mate solution: We start with them instead! When the thumbs are knitted, we build the mittens using the log-cabin pattern, which is fun, simple and incredibly good to swallow leftover yarn and time, in perfect harmony. You can try them on along the way and easily make them, so they fit exactly to your own hand.

26 sts and 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches in garter ridges on needle size 3 / US 2 1⁄2

Directions
First knit a thumb, and from there you build up the mittens in modules, in the colors of your choice, until the width of the hand is achieved. Then knit the edge at the bottom, the top of the mitten and finally knit them together along the outer edge. The two mittens cannot be knit as complete mirrored copies, but they are the same in size!
