Lokken Cowl
The Lokken Cowl is the big sister of the Lokken Kerchief. It features the same blocks and stripes motif, and utilizes very similar construction methods. Like the small shawl version, you won’t need to call upon any colorwork techniques for your cowl as all of the patterning is created through alternating your working yarn. You’ll never be working with two yarns at once, though you will be picking up stitches and weaving in a “few” ends. Lokken is primarily worked flat and seamed with edging picked up in the round afterward.
Both of the Lokken patterns were designed to resemble woven cloth. I love woven textiles, and recreating them through knitting. The original version of the Lokken Kerchief was written for one skein of self-striping yarn, whereas the Lokken Cowl is written for 3 colors of fingering weight yarn. However, I’ve included notes on how to modify the cowl pattern to use self striping yarn or two colors of yarn.
