Lone Cougar
Due to their broad range across the Americas, it is said that cougars are known by more names than any other animal species. The appellations include: puma, catamount, panther, mountain devil, painter, sneak cat, red tiger, Klandagi, fire cat, pumato, leon, gato mante, cuguacuarana, lord of the forest and even false deer. A strictly solitary cat that eludes even the most skilled trackers, mountain lions have even been called ghost cats – it is possible you could walk within a stone’s throw of a cougar and never even know it was there.
