ABOUT: This gently curved shawl is worked from the bottom up. The graphic, the slipped stitch border, is inspired by the ornate marble inlays of Il Duomo. Slipped stitches are a great way to created colourwork while only having to use one colour per row. Short rows are used to create the curved shape.

GAUGE
19 sts & 28 rows = 4’’/10cm in garter stitch using 5 US / 3.75mm needle
16 sts & 66 rows in slipped stitch pattern repeat measures 3.5’’/9cm wide and 6’’/15cm long

Note: Gauge is always taken after blocking.

Special techniques used: Long-Tail Cast-on, slipped stitch pattern, Wrap & Turn Short Rows, Icelandic Bind-off.
Slip stitch pattern consists of mult of 16 plus 6. The shawl is worked flat.

NOTE: Questo scialle leggermente stondato è lavorato dal basso verso l’alto. Il bordo è lavorato a maglie passate e forma un motivo geometrico ispirato proprio dai motivi grafici del Duomo. La tecnica delle maglie passate, o mosaico, è perfetta per creare dei giochi di colore, usando un solo colore alla volta. Con i ferri accorciati si otterrà la leggera curvatura dello scialle.
