Lost Kingdom: Riversong
The Music
Celtic cables are a first love and when they combine with inspiring tunes - designs like Riversong are created.
BrunuhVille is a Portuguese composer who describes his music as “a fusion of Gothic, orchestral, Celtic, Folk, movie, ethnic and world music”. His unique lyrical tunes from the Fantasy Journey collection are reflected in the intertwining and meandering cables that create this shawl.
This rectangular cable-rich shawl begins with an I-Cord Cast On. The first row is a Wrong Side setup row where stitches are increased to accommodate the horizontal pull of the cable stitches that follow; stitch markers are placed while working the setup row. The side edges are worked in a ribbed cable which form a subtle scalloped edge. The main shawl ends with an I-Cord Bind Off.
The End Panels (optional) are knit on after the main shawl is complete; they are worked at right angles to the shawl. Stitches are picked up along the I-Cord shawl ends and additional stitches are cast on using an I-Cord Cast On. The End Panels have a mock I-Cord edge and finish with an I-Cord Bind Off. A few stitches need to be sewn to attach the final bind off stitches to the shawl.
Instructions are included for adjusting the length of the shawl.

The Lost Kindom Series
The Lost Kingdom: Celtic Love Song shawl is a worsted-weight yarn variation of this design ~ the two shawls share the central cables but the edge cable panels and end panels differ. The Celtic Love Song shawl pattern is scheduled to be published in the Fall of 2014.
