Lough Shore was inspired by the view of Belfast Lough and the way that the waves moved across the surface. It is an asymmetrical triangle or wedge shape with alternating post stitches used to create a texture that would replicate the ripples of flowing water. I love it so much that I have made 3, once you are used to the pattern it is a very rhythmical to make.

The pattern is written for a small size but it is easily adapted to be any size that you want by continuing in the pattern, the only limit is your amount of yarn! If using multiple skeins of hand dyed yarn, I would suggest alternating between them to avoid any unintentional colour blocking.

Finished small shawl measures: 16 x 46”.
Finished large shawl measures: 26.5 x 68”.

Small: Julie Asselin Leizu Fingering, 90% SW Merino/10% Silk, 115g/385m/420yds  Colour: Sauge Argentée x1 skein. Pale Blue in photos.

Large: Banshee Yarns, Yak Sock, 70% SW Merino/20% Yak/10%Nylon, 100g/400m/437yds Colour: Nightmare x2 skeins. Dark Blue in photos.

Meeting gauge is not essential but may result in a different size shawl.

Stitches used: (UK Terminology) ch, dc, tr, and fpdtr. This pattern is suited to an adventurous beginner level and up. The post (raised) stitches are not difficult but may take getting used to.
