Love Grows
Would you like to knit a pair of lace socks, but you find the whole idea of lace knitting and following the chart a bit… intimidating? Lace knitting doesn’t have to be scary - if you know how to work left and right-leaning decrease and yarn over, you’ll be fine.
When you have repeated the lace chart once, you’ll probably know it by heart already, so it’s not necessary to look at the chart all the time.
Love Grows is a pair of socks that you knit for yourself - I designed this pair of socks in the middle of the greyest autumn – thinking about spring, the small, green buds in the trees and a hint of blue sky. I wanted to capture the feeling when it is still a bit chilly, but you know it is going to change soon.
Love Grows socks are worked from cuff to toe, with a flap heel and the leaves growing on the outer edge of the foot. The toe is grafted together using Kitchener’s Stitch. The lace pattern can be worked from written instructions or a chart, whichever you prefer.
The pattern was first published in Knit Now 115 in May 2020, but it has been re-edited and test knitted since then, in order to ensure the best possible knitting experience.
The test knitters have said:
“These must be the most beautiful socks that I have ever knitted. Socks for Sundays. “
“I’ve hesitated knitting lace socks, but with this pattern I got over my hesitation and I made my first ever lace sock.”
“Guaranteed quality!”
“This is such a beautiful design! Simple is beautiful.”
